History of Taubach

Taubach became an urban district of the city of Weimar at the behest of the community representatives without democratic vote of the Taubachien.

In April 1994 the history of Taubach ended

as an independent municipality for the time being. While other localities in the area around Weimar resisted itself the meddling of the city of Weimar, Taubach becomes a district of the city of Weimar on the decision of the Taubach local council. A democratic vote of the inhabitants was not done. The decision of the Taubach councilors over the heads of the Taubach population is incomprehensible especially with the background of the centuries-long cooperation between the municipalities of Mellingen and Taubach. Now the Taubachien can enjoy the amenities of the city of Weimar, such as high taxes and levies or insufficient winter service, and in case of speeding or wrong parking, just they expiate a monetary fine for the benefit of the ever hard-pressed city treasury. For example, parents with a nominal net income (2017: around 3,600 euros by the month) have to pay 102 euros monthly for the full-time care of their second 4- to 6-year-old child in the Mellingen administrative community (source: Satzung über die Erhebung von Gebühren für die Benutzung der Kindertageseinrichtungen in kommunaler Trägerschaft und die Inanspruchnahme von Verpflegungsangeboten der Verwaltungsgemeinschaft Mellingen), but parents with the same net income have to shell out 174 euros monthly in the city of Weimar (source: Anlage 1a zur Förderrichtlinie/Grundsätze für die Berechnung und Festlegung der Elternbeiträge und Auskunftspflichten). The basic tax levy rate is 480 percent in Weimar since 01.01.2016, however only 300 percent in Mellingen in 2017. Basic Law for the Federal Republic of Germany, Article 3: "No person shall be … disfavoured because of … home …."

Taubach was connected to the Tiefurt sewage treatment plant and the retrofit of the fire brigade's house ended in 2005. A part of the way to the cemetery was paved, a project that 2 workers could accomplish within a month, but it dragged on for months.

While the city of Weimar as a co-sponsor of the Klassik Stiftung Weimar indulged itself a new museum palace building for the Bauhaus, which was originally shall cost 23 million euros (although one can better marvel or smile at Bauhaus art in the world largest Bauhaus collection in Berlin or in the second largest in Dessau), the Haus der Freundschaft in Taubach is going rack and ruin. The renovation of the former official building of the Taubach burgomaster would have cost only about 200,000 euros, so the municipality has estimated the need for restoration - the news paper Thüringer Allgemeine reported this and that for the building, which taken over by the city of Weimar in 1994, is existing a veritable investment backlog, on 21st February 2013 (http://weimar.thueringer-allgemeine.de/web/weimar/startseite/detail/-/specific/Altes-Buergermeisteramt-von-Taubach-verfaellt-1724336067). What could have been renovated with 23 million euros for the citizens of the city of Weimar …

The into in the incorporation contract entered commitment by the city of Weimar to build a cycle path between Taubach and Weimar was a tragedy of a special kind. The city of Weimar did not fulfill its duty and commited a breach of the contract over around 20 years. In 2013 four pupils from Taubach collected signatures to finally move the construction forward. A total of 1,464 signatures came together, a remarkable achievement by the four pupils who forced the city of Weimar to finally build the cycle path. The cycle path, which was built south of the connecting road Weimar-Taubach under generous consumption of valuable agricultural land, was released for use on 22nd October 2015. By reason of its location underneath the road is only limited usable the cycle path at night, because its users are strongly blinded by motor vehicles on the road. The design of the surface between Hardtgasse, the new staircase and the ramp also raises some questions - a kind of gravel garden with the blessing of the green area office? What is with biodiversity and microclimate?

By the way, the inequality in the FRG system becomes clear with the example of the cycle path. The breach of contract remained without consequences for the city of Weimar - but what would happen if the Taubachien refused to pay the property tax for 20 years? Everyone will probably know the answer: it would cost every single taxpayer dear. Such a constellation is called despotism.

In January 2014, a speed camera box, the tenth speed camera in Weimar, was set up in the Mellinger Gasse, which now fully automatically detects speeding for the city of Weimar and lets ring the urban coffer happily. For 4 traffic signs crossroads or side road with right of way from right (StVO # 102) at the partly poorly visible crossroads An der Schatzgrube / Auf dem Steinberge will probably be available funds only when people have been injured and the city of Weimar is forced to set up the signs. Although these cannot prevent accidents, but they can bring you to remind of right of way rules.

The Weimar-Taubach-Mellingen local road was renewed in 2018 and 2019. While the section between Taubach and Oberweimar was already completed in 2018, the road to Mellingen had to be closed again for months in 2019. The foot and bike path, which was only built in the Mellingen part of the street in 2018, has now also been subsequent constructed in the Taubach part. Once again, many people had to put up with a multiple of the route as a diversion; CO2 is probably only of interest to the public administration if it collects money with it.

The cemetery administration have began to renewed the water pipe and tapping points at the Taubach cemetery in autumn 2018. In summer 2019, one's began to consolidate the main path of the cemetery too. This projects are commendable in themselves, but the path was so high constructed, that a more or less high step was created towards the graves on the east side, which were only mitigated by access ramps in 2020. Bad for old people with a walking frame and people who need a wheelchair. Also during building of the way to the cemetery was given no consideration to this (see photo from 14th April 2014 with clearly recognizable "detour route" in the Photos section). A frost-proof substructure and a top layer of asphalt / bitumen or paving at the level of the previous way would have served the same purpose much better and, in contrast to the built-in top layer made of fine split, would be much more sandal-friendly. Graves in the corner of the path and ramp are now in a kind of "hole". In contrast, the renewed water supply points are really very successful and show that the city of Weimar also has money. However, it is a mystery why the area in front of the mortuary was not renovated.

The passage from the Ilmtalstraße to the Hardtgasse was handed over on 30th March 2020. In addition to a new staircase, a ramp was also created, which now also enables unproblematic use of the staircase with prams, bikes, etc. However, why the executing construction company was allocated the surface in the center of the linden trees on the Lindenplatz for the storage of the construction and demolition materials can not be retraced because of the well-known risk assessment of the Weimar Green Area Office at other places, which also prohibited the soap box derby in the Belvederer Allee in Weimar because of an irreversible soil compaction by visitors and vehicles (TA 06.03.2012, 11:58).

Not one of dirt roads which were ploughed up in GDR times has not been made publicly available again, as in other places in East Germany too. A huge competitive advantage for the farms in the new federal states, an advantage for the public sector, as it can benefit from higher tax revenues and probably lease payments for once public roads. A disadvantage not only for the Taubachien who have been deprived the use of this ways, although they are actually allowed to move freely on this. Of course, there are also disadvantages for the protection of nature by these monster fields.

The events for the 900 years anniversary of Taubach were canceled until 30th June 2020 and announced for 2021 in the spring of 2020 because of the corona insanity.
